Eruption type probability and eruption source parameters at Cotopaxi and Guagua Pichincha volcanoes (Ecuador) with uncertainty quantification

چکیده

Future occurrence of explosive eruptive activity at Cotopaxi and Guagua Pichincha volcanoes, Ecuador, is assessed probabilistically, utilizing expert elicitation. Eight eruption types were considered for each volcano. Type event probabilities evaluated the next volcano least one type within 100 years. For type, we elicited relevant source parameters (duration, average plume height, total tephra mass). We investigated robustness these evaluations by deriving probability uncertainties using three scoring methods. Cotopaxi, both rhyolitic andesitic magmas. Elicitation findings indicate that most probable an hydrovolcanic/ash-emission (~ 26–44% median probability), which has also highest recurring over However, joint sub-Plinian or Plinian order 30–40%—a significant chance a violent event. It inferred any could involve longer duration greater erupted mass than event, likely producing prolonged emergency. Pichincha, future are expected to be andesitic/dacitic, vulcanian judged (median ~40–55%); this frequent years, too. there substantial (possibly >40% in average) Plinian, with all implies hazard levels.

Modeling Volcanic Eruption Parameters by Near-Source Internal Gravity Waves

Volcanic explosions release large amounts of hot gas and ash into the atmosphere to form plumes rising several kilometers above eruptive vents, which can pose serious risk on human health and aviation also at several thousands of kilometers from the volcanic source. However the most sophisticate atmospheric models and eruptive plume dynamics require input parameters such as duration of the ejec...

Eruption time of the first Primary Tooth and its Relationship with Growth Parameters in Children

Introdouction:Tooth eruption is recognized as an important aspect of human growth and development. It can be influenced by a number of factors, and it may reflect the general development of a child’s body. The purpose of this study was to determine the age at which the first primary tooth erupted and its relationship with height, weight and head circumference in 3-15-month children in the...

First Primary Tooth Eruption and its Relationship with Birth Weight

Background and purpose: In this study we aimed to identify the association between birth weight and first primary tooth eruption. Materials and methods: This retrospective cohort study was done in infants attending for 12 and 18 months vaccination in Qaemshahr health centers. Multi-stage cluster sampling was performed. Information, including birth weight, height, and head circumference were ex...

Operational eruption forecasting at high-risk volcanoes: the case of Campi Flegrei, Naples

High risk volcanic events are commonly preceded by long periods of unrest during which scientists are asked to provide near real-time forecasts. The rarity of such events, inaccessibility of the underground volcanic system, non-linear behaviors, and limited datasets constitute major sources of uncertainty. In order to provide reasoned guidance in the face of uncertainties, monitoring observatio...
